Relaxing in the Rainforest
I was very excited to have a week’s holiday in which to travel to Tana to meet my God daughter, Isobel and then take her for a weekend in the rainforest for a taste of Madagascar’s wildlife. We had a great time, clambering through the forest in search of the best view of the Indri Indri and Sifaka lemurs, and it really didn’t matter that it was cold and wet. Thankfully, we did have one day of sunshine while we encountered tame lemurs and enjoyed watching Maki lemurs meditating (we were enlightened by our guide that they were actually sunbathing!). We were very grateful to travel back up to Mandritsara with Helimission who were out and about in the villages for vaccination, sanitation, nutrition and gospel programs. Isobel is staying here in Mandritsara until mid-August providing invaluable child care for the missionary children while their parents work in the project….
