Providing health education, vaccines and proclaiming the Good News throughout the district.

The Community Health Team is made up of 6 staff members, providing health education and vaccines to the community. They train other health workers, but, more importantly they have a passion for sharing Jesus, and are all gifted evangelists. They go out in all conditions, by foot, bicycle, motorbike, Land Rover, and 6 times a year by helicopter. Most of the population in the district live in villages which are not accessible by road. Many of them will have to walk up to 4 days over treacherous terrain to reach the hospital.

The team teach the villagers about hygiene, diet and pregnancy among other things, and have helped many villages build latrines to improve hygiene and prevent the spread of diseases. They administer the vital childhood and maternal vaccines which save so many lives. But true salvation comes through Christ. Through contacts made by the team, over 70 churches have been planted. Some have only a few members. Being able to support them is so important.

Many of the visits culminate in a service of prayer and praise, with whole villages coming together in a mud and straw building. The gatherings often last deep into the night, there is no electricity, so the only light comes from a few torches and from the moon. It is such a joy to hear the voices of children praising Jesus, and know that they have learned every word that they sing.
