Jehovah Jireh – The Lord who provides

The Good News Project has always depended on the Lord to provide the financial needs of the Project, and He has graciously supplied the needs of the Project for the past 25 years. He is truly “The Lord who provides”.

One of the key roles of Friends of Mandritsara Trust (FoMT) is to raise finance for the ongoing work of the Good News Project. FoMT makes a regular bank transfer each month to the Project to help fund the work of the Good News Hospital, the Good News School, the Voice of the Good News radio station and other ministries.

We thank God for providing the needs of the Project over the past year, and we also want to thank all of our supporters for their generous financial support, which is greatly appreciated. Although the FoMT General Fund showed a small deficit in 2020, both the hospital finances and FoMT finances were relatively unaffected by COVID. In fact, General Fund giving to FoMT was higher in 2020 than in 2019.

Regarding the new Operating Theatre Block Project, the latest total expected cost is around £190,000, comprising construction costs of £100,000 (after making a couple of necessary additions to the building) and equipment / other costs of £90,000. Total donations of funds and equipment received to date amount to around £163,000.  Good progress is being made in constructing the new Theatre Block (the walls are up and the roof is on). A large amount of equipment for the new Theatre Block arrived in Mandritsara in late October in a container from the UK.

FoMT has received a number of legacies during the past few years. These legacy amounts are held in our Designated Funds, and are typically used to help fund capital projects in Mandritsara, such as new hospital buildings and new housing for doctors, although they could be used for other purposes. Designated Funds are currently funding the construction of three new houses for doctors on the hospital site, which will cost a total of around £90,000 to build. Two of the houses are now largely complete and the third house will be completed once the work on the Theatre Block is complete.

While God has wonderfully provided for the Good News Project over the years, we do not take financial supply for granted. We would ask you to pray regularly for God to continue to supply what is needed, and pray that we all might trust Him and give Him all the glory.

Please give thanks that:

  • General Fund donations held up well in 2020 despite the effects of COVID

  • Total Operating Theatre Block donations of funds and equipment are now less than £30,000 short of the expected total cost.

Please pray that:

  • God our Father would continue to provide the funds required to run the Good News Project. Our hope and trust is in Him. “The Lord will provide.”

  • Donations would continue to be received to cover the currently unfunded element of the cost of the new Operating Theatre Block

  • The FoMT Trustees would be given wisdom in managing the finances of FOMT.
