GOOD NEWS FOR THE POOR

by Ted Watts
Surgeon and Missionary Team Leader at the Good News Hospital

There is no National Health Service in Madagascar. Services are not free for patients at government or private hospitals. So how do the poor cope, given that the vast majority of the population are poor, or very poor?

Listen to Ted Watts explain how the Good News Hospital is funded, and in particular, how health care is provided to the very poor in Mandritsara.

If you'd like to hear more about how this all works and how we try to keep care affordable to everyone in Mandritsara please email our treasurer Richard Bulmer fomttreasurer@mandritsara.org.uk, who would be glad to provide further information.

Prayer points

  1. Please pray for the staff at the Good News Hospital, that even when tired, and even in the middle of the night they may have that compassion of the Lord Jesus who “went about doing good” (Acts 10:38). Pray that they will “not become weary in doing good” (Galatians 6:9).

  2. Please pray that patients and relatives may see the love of the Lord Jesus in action as doctors and nurses care for them, and that they be drawn to the Saviour who is presented to them in the daily services in the wards and outpatients, as well as through personal witness.

  3. Pray for wisdom for those who administrate the Poor Fund and seek to make sure that all who genuinely cannot afford treatment are treated as well as those who can afford.

  4. Pray that the Lord would continue to raise up prayer support and financial support for His work.
